Paolo Ulian’s Compressioni project explores a new way of shaping sheet metal, unveiling a surprising level of expressiveness. The collection includes a basket, a centerpiece, and an unprecedented object—all first turned on a lathe and then carefully compressed to achieve their final form. Through a series of trials with a master turner, Ulian discovered that the deformations caused by compression could be controlled, resulting in fascinating geometric patterns, squares, pentagons, hexagons, and octagons. The outcome: unique pieces defined by the harmony of their singularity.
