What is the animal of Chinese New Year 2023?

Do you know which animal represents the Chinese New Year in 2023? Chinese New Year is one of the country's most important festivities. This time it starts on January 22nd and lasts until February 9th, 2024.

This is the Year of the Rabbit. The rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture. It's expected, then, that 2023 will be a year of hope.

The Chinese follow the lunar calendar based on the 12 cycles of the moon (354 days long). Each year is represented by one of these animals existing in the series of signs of the Chinese zodiac, in this same order: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.

Therefore, according to the Chinese horoscope, and since the cycle repeats itself every 12 years, people who are from the sign Rabbit were born in the years: 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, and 2023.

According to the Chinese theory of the five elements, each sign of the zodiac is associated with one of these, namely metal, wood, water, fire, or earth. The year that begins in 2023 will have water as its element. The conjunction of this element with the sign Rabbit occurs every 60 years.

In its Yin form, the water element is the main source of energy in the Chinese calendar throughout this following year. After an eventful Year of the Tiger, it's believed that this Year of the Rabbit will bring more tranquility to the People.

This is a lucky year for those born under the sign of the Rabbit. The Chinese zodiac sign Rabbit symbolizes patience, peace, and prosperity among the Chinese people. In turn, water represents money and prosperity.
