Activities for World Children's Day!

World Children's Day is coming!

Did you know that this date is not celebrated on the same day worldwide? June 1st was chosen in 1950, by several countries (including Portugal). However, some countries celebrate on other days of the year, for example, on November 20th, a date that the UN recognizes as being the “official” since the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of the Child was approved that day in 1959 and 1989, respectively.

The purpose of this date is to draw attention to the 10 fundamental rights of children, specifically the need to live in an environment of peace and protection that helps their healthy development.

In this article, we are going to give you some suggestions of activities that you can do with children, on this day dedicated entirely to them! If you are not available on June 1st, take advantage as soon as you can, the important is to celebrate this date!

It's time to get your hands on the ground!

We all know how important it is for children to have contact with nature, so there is nothing better than, on this day, plant a small vegetable in your backyard, with the help of the little helpers at home! This activity perfectly combines pedagogy with fun, not only on the day itself but in the entire process of growing food.

If you don't have space, you can always opt for Rig Tig Your Tree pots, with pine or birch seeds included. Although they are trees that in the future become large, it is interesting for the little ones to be part of their growth from sowing to planting in an appropriate place.

However, the pot can always be used for other types of smaller plants, such as aromatic herbs!

Let creativity fly!

Following the previous point, handicrafts are always a good option! Encourage the creativity of your little one through paints, glue, pencils, old newspapers, bed sheets, pens... All the materials you find at home have potential.

Play with him/her, make lego constructions, mold plasticine, create enchanting stories, ... Creativity has no limits (nor should it have)!

Thus, create family memories that any video/game on a screen cannot replace!

Ready to get your hands dirty?

Make mealtime more fun and let the little chefs help. It can be the main course, snack, or dessert, they will love to be part of this adventure.

Use our ice cream molds, hamburger molds, pastry kits, cookie cutters, ravioli molds, and/or cake/cupcake/cookie molds to prepare recipes to eat and cry for more.

Are you uninspired? Enjoy our recipes for veggie burgers, strawberry ice cream, healthy gums, cake pops, or the mix of fun recipes.

Clean air, finally!

After preparing the meal, there is nothing better than grab everything and go to a park to have a picnic! Children need fresh air to develop healthily and, therefore, after so much time confined, it is time to enjoy the outdoors (always safely and responsibly!). Let them run, jump, get dirty, play football, ride a bike ... whatever they want and imagination allows!

If you still don't feel safe about going to public spaces and have a garden at home, make the most of it!

For the picnic itself, we suggest the Asa Selection tableware sets and the practical, functional, and colorful dinnerware sets for children, which, for sure, will facilitate the mealtime.

Treasure in sight!

In general, children love a good treasure hunt! Make your child a real pirate and create a story behind the search, with, for example, clues and a map to make the adventure more exciting and lasting.

Hide sweets, small symbolic gifts, or something related to the story you created, taking advantage of every corner of the house, including the garden (if you have one)!

Thus, the goal will be for him/her to follow this “trail” until they reach the final “treasure”. At In&Out Cooking we have the perfect “treasure”: Doraff! Do you want to know more about the seat that awakens children's creativity and imagination? Click here and take a look at our article about this product, which is much more than a simple seat.

Shhh! The movie is starting!

To end the day and lower the energy levels of the little ones, we suggest a cinema session - an animated movie! These films are not only entertaining but also always convey important messages, both for kids and adults.

A cinema session without popcorn is not a cinema session! Before the movie starts, you can combine the useful with the enjoyable and make a little game while preparing popcorn, using the Let’s Pop Kit by Lékué, or just making popcorn in the microwave, practically and quickly.

Create happy memories with your children, making their day special and unforgettable, in your way.
Children deserve everything, after all… they are the best in the world!
Happy Children’s Day!
